Claremont High School Academy

Tomorrow’s world

The future’s in safe hands thanks to schools like Mount Stewart and Claremont working together

Mount Stewart Primary School has long been celebrated for nurturing the citizens of tomorrow and creating future leaders. Someone who knows this all too well is former student Ahaan Saraf, aged 16, who’s now in Year 12 at Claremont High School, where he’s the newly-elected Head Boy.

On 10th June 2025, accompanied by Claremont’s Head Girl, Meha Raghvani, Ahaan revisited his alma mater to meet Mount Stewart’s very own team of Head Students, all aged 11: Head Boy Reyan Solanki, Head Girl Anaya Sidar, Deputy Head Boy Maximus Mendola and Deputy Head Girl Holly Hirani. Ahaan and Meha were there to share their experiences of being Head Students at Claremont and to offer some advice to their young peers.

‘We focused on developing key leadership skills: effective communication techniques and strategies for managing responsibilities with confidence,’ explains Ahaan. ‘A central part of the session was discussing the importance of being a positive role-model within the school and engaging with peers in a respectful and approachable way.’

‘We encouraged them to be confident and organised,’ adds Meha. ‘We also gave them a range of tips about delivering assemblies and organising events, which Ahaan and I hope they can implement at Mount Stewart.’

Reyan and his team clearly found it a worthwhile experience.

‘They gave good feedback and told us what it was like to be a Head Student at Claremont,’ he says.

‘I really enjoyed meeting Claremont’s Head Students,’ adds Anaya. ‘It was fun to discuss the process of becoming Head Boy and Girl there.’

‘I enjoyed them telling us about their journey through secondary school, which gave us key information about Claremont,’ says Maximus.

‘The experience was good and it inspired me,’ adds Holly.

Key information about Claremont might prove useful as the Mount Stewart pupils prepare to follow in a certain former student’s footsteps…

‘It was a real pleasure working with the students at Mount Stewart,’ concludes Ahaan. ‘We are very happy that all four of them are attending Claremont High School in September and cannot wait to see their progress there!’

It’s reassuring to know that our schools, and society at large, are in safe hands thanks to the young citizens of the future - citizens like Reyan, Anaya, Maximus, Holly and Claremont’s very own Ahaan and Meha. Today’s students are tomorrow’s teachers and leaders… What could inspire us and make us want to learn and achieve more than that?
