Bands & FlightPaths

Key Stage 3 Claremont Bands

For the purpose of tracking progress, all pupils in Year 7 and 8 are allocated a Claremont Band on the scale of A to E - this system of 5 bands is determined by Key Stage 2 levels alongside other test data. The Claremont Bands are related to potential GCSE outcomes in the language of the GCSE grades as we currently know them.

Year 7 - 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D, 7E

Year 8 - 8A, 8B, 8C, 8D, 8E

Progress in subjects is reported at three keys points in the year i.e. Progress Check 1, 2 and 3 - these assessments are what we term Flightpaths based on the work so far, is an individual making the progress needed to achieve an e.g. 7B at the end of Year 7.  We use the Progress Check levels to monitor progress in relation to the Claremont Band, tracking individual pupil progress and set up interventions where appropriate.
