Claremont High School Academy

grades in years 7 to 9

Key Stage 3 grades

For the purpose of tracking progress, all pupils in Year 7, 8 and 9 are allocated a Claremont grade on the scale of A* to E - this system of 6 bands is determined by Key Stage 2 levels alongside other test data.

Year 7 - 7A*, 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D, 7E

Year 8 - 8A*, 8A, 8B, 8C, 8D, 8E

Year 9 - 9A*, 9A, 9B, 9C, 9D, 9E

Progress in subjects is reported at three keys points in the year i.e. Prediction check 1, 2 and 3 - these assessments are based on predictions e.g. based on the work and progress so far, is an individual making the steps needed to achieve an e.g. 7B at the end of Year 7.  We use the Prediction checks levels to monitor progress in relation to the pupil targets, tracking individual pupil progress and set up interventions where appropriate.

Assessment information

predictions

Students receive predictions and effort grades at various points during the year. These predictions are a crucial indicator as to the progress a pupil is making.

mocks and end of year exams

Mocks and end of year exams / tests are crucial measure of the understanding and progress pupils make during the academic year. At Key Stage 4 there are two mocks for year 11 students and one for year 10 students. Key Stage 5 students take two mocks and at Key Stage 3 there is an end of year test in most subjects.  The table below highlights the key dates for predictions and mocks.
