A cheerful workshop

The start of a new year is often a time for setting goals for the months ahead and ‘getting your house in order’. As January can be rather cold and gloomy, we thought we’d recall some festive warmth and cheer with another type of house built by some very creative lower-school students.
Ms Kandaiah explains…
Leading up to Christmas, Claremont High School’s years 7, 8 and 9 students kicked off the festive season with a lively and creative gingerbread house-making session. The classroom was transformed into a cheerful workshop filled with chocolates, colourful sprinkles, icing, lollies and plenty of imagination.
Students worked alone, in pairs or small groups to design their own gingerbread houses, experimenting with different building techniques and decorative styles. Some created classic Christmas cottages, while others let their creativity run wild with colourful themes, multi-storey creations and snowy winter scenes.
To add to the festive spirit, fun Christmas music played in the background, creating a joyful atmosphere and keeping everyone smiling as they constructed and decorated. The combination of music, creativity and teamwork made the activity both engaging and memorable.
By the end of the activity, the room was filled with proudly displayed gingerbread masterpieces and plenty of holiday cheer. The event was a wonderful way for our years 7 to 9 students to come together, celebrate the season and make lasting memories here at Claremont.
