Excellent outcomes for disadvantaged pupils

Secretary of State for Education, the Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson, recognises Chrysalis Multi Academy Trust as ‘among the very best nationally’ for its achievements with underprivileged children

In a letter dated 23rd January 2026 to the Executive Headteacher of Chrysalis Multi Academy and Headteacher at Claremont High School, Ms Hyde-Boughey, Bridget Phillipson wrote:

‘Congratulations to you and your team on the excellent outcomes the disadvantaged pupils at your school achieved at the end of the 2024/25 academic year. Your school’s performance places it among the very best nationally, and this is a significant achievement.

‘This success reflects the dedication of your staff and the hard work of your pupils. It shows what can be achieved when ambition and commitment come together. Thank you for everything you do to give children the best possible opportunities to succeed.’

The schools within Chrysalis Multi Academy Trust who were recognised for demonstrating strong attainment outcomes for disadvantaged pupils were Claremont High School and Sudbury Primary School.

Claremont’s Head, Ms Hyde-Boughey, commented: ‘I’m so proud that all schools in Chrysalis Trust were recognised by the Secretary of State for Education for our excellent outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in the 24/25 year. This reflects the dedication of our staff and rigorous processes to reduce educational inequalities and improve the life chances of all our young people.’

Headteacher of Sudbury Primary School, Mrs Mistry, added: ‘I am absolutely delighted that Sudbury Primary School has been recognised for the exceptional progress and outcomes achieved by our disadvantaged pupils. This acknowledgement reflects the relentless dedication of our staff, the unwavering support of our families, and - most importantly - the determination of our children. At Sudbury, we believe every child deserves the very best opportunities, and we will continue working tirelessly to ensure all our pupils can thrive and succeed.’

In her letter, the Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson encouraged Chrysalis Multi Academy Trust to ‘lead the way’ to help raise standards across the sector: ‘Your school’s achievements demonstrate what is possible, and I hope you will continue to share your experience and best practice with others.’
