Nurturing today’s teachers for tomorrow’s students
Apart from family and friends, if there’s one person in life you’ll always remember it’s probably one of your teachers – in particular, an inspiring teacher who ignited in you a passion for their subject and the belief and confidence in your own abilities. That’s what all the best teachers do and that early encouragement and support will last a lifetime.
Claremont High School has an enviable tradition of nurturing some of the very best teachers in the profession, many of whom start as trainees and progress all the way through to senior roles. Claremont’s a place where people want to join a community and stay to build a career.
And now the school, as part of Chrysalis Multi-Academy Trust, want to share that ethos and practice with others. Working in partnership with Teach First, the UK’s largest Initial Teacher Training (ITT) provider, Chrysalis are launching Chrysalis SCITT (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training). This one-year programme combines practical, ‘hands-on’ experience with expert-led training in teaching at either primary or secondary levels, leading to trainees gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE (Post-graduate Certificate in Education).
‘I am delighted about the launch of our SCITT,’ says Ms Hyde-Boughey, Executive Headteacher at Claremont High School. ‘Both Claremont and Sudbury Primary School, our partner, have a long history of delivering extremely high-quality Initial Teacher Training and this initiative allows us to continue to develop the next generation of teachers, alongside providing fantastic professional development opportunities for our current staff.’
‘Launching our SCITT is an exciting milestone for our multi-academy trust,’ adds Course Leader, Mr Lipman. ‘This programme represents a unique opportunity to grow talent within our schools, ensuring our shared values and high standards are at the heart of education.’
Chrysalis SCITT is now recruiting for both primary and secondary levels, based at Sudbury Primary School and Claremont High School respectively. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a teacher, find out more at:
