On a spiritual trail

Mr Khan reports on a recent PRE trip to Cambridge
On Wednesday 13th May 2026, GCSE and A-level students from Years 10 and 12 currently studying Philosophy, Religion and Ethics had the pleasure of visiting the Cambridge Central Mosque. Here they learnt about its rich history and unique eco-friendly architecture.
The visit to the mosque was followed by a guided tour of the city, on foot, led by Claremont’s very own Mr West. Students were introduced to three of Cambridge University’s colleges – King’s, Queens’ and Trinity - giving them an insight into the city’s academic and cultural heritage. It was a memorable and educational experience for all involved, enriching their understanding of both religious and academic traditions.
‘The highlights of the trip for me were learning about the mosque's unique design and the tour, walking around the streets of Cambridge,’ says Fatima Al-Najar in 10.10. ‘From this experience I’ll reflect on the culture, history and heritage of mosques.’
Zeynab Shirzad 10.4 agrees: ‘The highlight of the trip was when we were told about the architecture of the mosque. I really appreciated the time taken to explain the stories behind each of the materials used.’
