Pride and principals 2025
The results are in, the grades have been counted and now it’s time for Claremont High School’s Heads of Departments to celebrate the 2025 exam results, including special mention of those principal students who did especially well. Here are some colleagues’ highlights…
Mr McDavid, Geography
‘Geography A-level students had an amazing set of results, with no student getting lower than a grade B for the second year running! Of particular note are Prisha Sumaria and Niam Makanji, who both got an A* in their NEA component, and Anjeli Gupta-Nichols and Shayen Karia, who both saw their final grade increase by two grades since the spring mocks.
‘Geography GCSE students also saw significant success with Aditya Banerjee, Urvi Bhudia, Justin Chen, Keira Shah, Kyle Shah and Mohit Shah all achieving a grade 9. Special congratulations go to Jay Arora-Shah, who achieved three grades above his aspirational target, as well as Mariam Ahmed, Sana Chowdhury and Havish Vimalathasa who achieved two grades above their predictions.
‘Well done to all geographers!’

And to Thuvarakaa Chandirabalan, Livvie Qassim, David Iureca, Hitkumar Jayantilal and Marco Chiulan for their excellent effort and progress. An impressive 62.5% of students achieved grades A*to B, while 87.5% achieved grades A*to D, reflecting solid academic performances across the cohort. These outcomes highlight a strong overall performance, with the majority demonstrating a clear grasp of key concepts and advanced problem-solving skills. The department is especially pleased to recognise Devesh Patel, who exceeded his aspirational target and showed exceptional strength in applying computational thinking and coding practices beyond expectations.
‘The Computing Department is equally delighted with this year’s GCSE results. An impressive 21% of students achieved the top grade 9, demonstrating outstanding performance at the highest level. In total, 42% of students achieved grades 9 to 7, showcasing the strong academic ability across the cohort. Even more positively, 87% of students achieved grades 9 to 4, meaning the vast majority successfully passed the course and are well prepared for their next steps.’
