Pride, intrigue and togetherness

The sun shines on one of the brightest days at Claremont

2nd April 2025 was bright with spring sunshine at Claremont High School, plus the colourful costumes and outfits on display for the school’s annual Cultural Dress Day – one of  the brightest and best fixtures in Claremont’s calendar since it was established in 2016. Everyone, students and staff alike, are encouraged to wear clothing that represents their culture and heritage – the more traditional the dress the better!

‘It’s a celebration of the diversity we have in school,’ explains Mr Goddard, who’s led all of the Cultural Dress Days since it started nearly ten years ago. ‘It’s an opportunity for everyone to be proud of and celebrate their cultural heritage, and to find out more about other people’s. It reinforces respect and understanding.’

This was evident on the day, with colleagues taking real delight in each other’s outfits – many photos were taken and shared!

When asked what those taking part get from the event, a group of Year 9 pupils replied: ‘Pride, intrigue and togetherness. We are all different in our own way, but that's something we all have in common - something that helps us connect, something that breeds togetherness, something we should be proud off.’

Roll on April 2026 and the celebration of a decade of sartorial solidarity!
