Mr Lipman and Ms Norrish applaud Year 10 and 12 Drama students as they take to the stage for their practical exams

On 11th and 12th June 2026, our Year 10 GCSE Drama and Year 12 A-level Drama students completed their practical examinations, showcasing months of creativity, collaboration and hard work.

Year 10 students recently completed their devised drama practical exam, creating original group performances inspired by one of three stimuli: refugees, the invention of the internet and the Seven Deadly Sins. As part of the process, they researched their chosen themes, developed ideas, rehearsed extensively and refined their performances.

The final performances took place on Thursday 11th June and demonstrated impressive creativity and maturity. Students explored a range of contemporary issues, including the impact of doom-scrolling and excessive social-media use, alongside thought-provoking interpretations of how the Seven Deadly Sins continue to influence modern society.

Our A-level Drama students faced the additional challenge of applying the work of a theatre practitioner to their devised performances. Inspired by the production Lost Atoms, the group selected the practitioner Frantic Assembly and explored the themes of memory and memory loss.

Beginning with a small ‘kernel’ idea, students used Frantic Assembly’s devising processes to build complex movement sequences layered with narrative and meaning. The resulting performances were highly emotive, intelligent and deeply moving, exploring the impact of conditions such as Huntington’s disease and dementia, alongside wider questions about relationships, identity and what it means to hold on to memories.

The final performances took place on Friday 12th June and were a testament to the students’ dedication, creativity and resilience throughout the devising process.

We are incredibly proud of both our GCSE and A-level Drama cohorts and wish them every success with their final results.
