Yo-ho-ho!
Claremont High School counts in a musical festive season
The Music Department’s programme of activities and events rolls on… In case you missed it, the last week of the Autumn Term saw the inaugural Christmas Concert.
On 16th December 2025, 184 student-musicians - plus staff, parents and carers - packed the Main Hall for an evening of yuletide harmony. Among the performers were soloists, the school orchestra, the choir, Big Band, Chamber Strings, Guitar Group, Keyboard Club, Samba Troop and the Woodwind Ensemble, plus backdrop and hosting provided by Claremont FM.
Music Ambassadors directed guests to their seats, led in the congregational singing and sold mince pies to raise money. Claremont’s new in-house Tech Team led on stage management, sound-engineering and lighting. Christmas decorations were even sold by Shaniya Halai in Year 9 for charity.
Among the performers was Dannio Cao in Year 13: ‘As a drummer, I played in a band, the orchestra, as well as the Percussion Troop, plus I was involved in choir for the first time. I’ve performed in many other concerts, but this one was particularly festive and enjoyable with a real sense of excitement.’
Head of Music, Mr Williams, reflected on the evening: ‘The setlist was a mix of traditional and modern festive songs and instrumental pieces and I even dusted off my old accordion! It was a fantastic celebration of music and community.’
Roll on next Christmas and another yuletide concert!
