Claremont High School Academy

Headteacher's Welcome

"To prepare our students to reach their full potential."

Welcome to Claremont High School Academy. Our mission statement is “To prepare our students to reach their full potential.” We know that we are very successful in doing this because we have students, staff and parents who are totally committed to our core values of Excellence, Respect, Aspiration, Enjoyment and Perseverance.

These are the values that are celebrated and upheld across the academy so that students of all ages and abilities are able to make exceptional progress academically, socially and personally. It is the strength of these core values that has led students to make an excellent and smooth transition from their much loved primary schools so that they achieve excellent GCSE and A level results. This enables them to make the transition to top universities and colleges and to secure excellent professional careers in fields such as Medicine, Finance, Law, Teaching and Hospitality and in the competitive world of Business.  Many have achieved sporting success well beyond the school environment and others have found true excellence and vocation in performing and visual arts. It is no accident that former and current Claremont students can be found making their mark not just in the local community but across London and the world. They are living proof of the school’s commitment to their lifelong learning and the extent to which they have chosen to live by our core values which of course are the values that they have shared with their families.

This commitment was recognised once again in the recent OFSTED inspection which deemed the school to be Outstanding in all categories. This is testament to the quality of teaching and learning at Claremont, staff and student relationships and the excellent learning behaviour of all of our students. We are proud of being the only secondary school in the Borough to be awarded this outstanding grading under the new inspection framework which sets the standards higher than the school’s previous outstanding grading (2010).

Our Achievements

We have achieved this long term success and set the foundations for continued success by making the most effective strategic decisions to employ additional specialist staff in all key areas of the school; to invest in high quality information, communication technology, and to develop a rich and responsive curriculum offer at KS3, KS4 and post 16. At the same time we have remained true to our ideal of educating the whole child in an atmosphere where learning is challenging and fun and where success is built upon excellent teaching and learning and high expectations.

We have continued to create opportunities for staff, pupils and our partner community groups to engage in a vast range of enrichment and learning activities and ensured that these have led to positive outcomes for all. Teaching and learning at Claremont is outstanding and this is something that we are very proud of because it is this that makes such a difference to the engagement and success of all learners. In not standing still on any aspect of our work with young people we have grown from strength to strength and we have ensured that the learning environment has more than kept pace with our very high expectations.

Our modern learning environment is exceptional  having benefitted from an investment of millions of pounds over many years enabling the school to provide a sports complex, very impressive science facilities, an extensive library and learning resource centre, a dedicated dining hall and kitchen, enhanced sixth form facilities, a flood lit Astroturf , a reception and administration centre and new classrooms. All of this in addition to high level maintenance and of a much loved main building dating back to 1934. In 2014 the academy completed a New Hall within the new Business and Economics building again extending sixth form provision.

Greatness comes with hard work and challenge, dedication and perseverance, and sharing the journey of success with others over time. Whether this is the start of your journey with us to ‘enable your children to achieve their full potential’ or a continuation of a journey to your own personal greatness that has already begun our commitment remains the same: we will do all that we can to celebrate and foster our core values so that all of our young people are as well prepared as they can be to achieve their full potential, personally, socially and academically. Our multiple outstanding inspection outcomes are testament to the great strengths of this amazing school and to the value that we place on working in partnership with our learners and their parents and carers.
